You’ve probably heard that when it comes to learning, children are like sponges. They soak up everything – including language! Research shows that children who speak multiple languages benefit cognitively, culturally and economically. Children acquire language through interaction especially with other children. Children surrounded by conversation will acquire the language that is being used around them. And it is just as easy for a child to acquire two or more languages at the same time, as long as they are regularly interacting with speakers of those languages. Our goal is to introduce the Slovak language and culture in an informal, fun and practical way for children and teens including conversation, games, song, dance, reading and writing and to provide parents with materials to help assist young Slovak learners in their home settings.
