You’ve probably heard that when it comes to learning, children are like sponges. They soak up everything – including language! Research shows that children who speak multiple languages benefit cognitively, culturally and economically. Children acquire language through interaction especially with other children. Children surrounded by conversation will acquire the language that is being used around them. And it is just as easy for a child to acquire two or more languages at the same time, as long as they are regularly interacting with speakers of those languages. Our goal is to introduce the Slovak language and culture in an informal, fun and practical way for children and teens including conversation, games, song, dance, reading and writing and to provide parents with materials to help assist young Slovak learners in their home settings. Classes begin again on February 16 through May 17, 2008. New for the 2007 – 2008 school year – to improve Slovak conversational and reading abilities!
Parents or other caregivers need to be on the grounds when school is in session.
